Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu along with Minister of State for Railways Manoj Sinha and Minister of State for Science and Technology Sujana Chowdary, Railway Board Chairman A.K. Mittal and other board members flagged off the Express Train between Vijayawada-Dharmavaram online from Railway Bhavan, New Delhi, on Tuesday (12-07-2016). This is the second train introduced by the Railways in Andhra Pradesh in just over a month. On June 4, a new superfast Inter-City Express between Vijayawada-Secundrabad via Guntur was launched.
SCR General Manager Ravindra Gupta, Vijayawada Divisional Railway Manager Ashok Kumar, Chief Mechanical Engineer Arjun Mundiya, Chief Commercial Manager(Passenger Amenities) Sarjana Rao, Chief Passenger Traffic Manager Shiva Prasad and other officials participated in the programme at the Vijayawada Railway Station.
The Best Part of Vijayawada-Dharmavaram New Train
A new tri-weekly express train between Vijayawada-Dharmavaram in Anantapur district was flagged off, improving rail link between Rayalaseema region and upcoming state Capital Amaravati.
Speaking on the occasion, Suresh Prabhu said the new train would provide more connectivity for the people of Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh with its new capital Amaravati. “The long-cherished demand of the Rayalaseema people has been fulfilled with the introduction of this train’.
Train Number and Schedules
The new train (No. 17215) will depart on every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 23.10 hours from Vijayawada and arrive Dharmavaram the next day at 10.45 AM.
In the return direction Train No. 17216, the train will depart from Dharmavaram on every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 17.50 hours and arrive in Vijayawada at 6.50 hours the next day.
It will halt at Guntur, Narasaraopet, Vinukonda, Markapur Road, Giddalur, Nandyal, Gutti and Anantapur Stations.
New train Details:
The train will have 11 coaches – one AC II Tier, Two AC III Tier, Six Sleeper Class coaches besides two generator-cum-brake vans.
Vijayawada-Dharmavaram New Train
The train will act as a big boon to the people of the state, providing comfortable overnight train connectivity between Vijayawada, the gateway to capital of Andhra Pradesh, Amaravati with several major towns, serving the districts of Krishna, Guntur, Prakasham, Kurnool and Anantapur.
On the newly-introduced Express Train Service, Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu stated that the introduction of the train fulfills a long-felt aspiration of the public in AP. The service would go a long way in meeting the needs of the rail users, offering convenient connectivity to the capital region.
Ravindra Gupta, General Manager, SCR said that new train service was bound to give a boost to the economic prosperity of the region, and the provision of the new technology LHB coaches for the train, would act to make the journeys more safe and comfortable.
Minister State for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences Y S Chowdary complimented the Railways for taking concrete steps towards fulfilling the assurances made as also the aspirations of the public. The new train in Andhra Pradesh, would be of immense help to the rail users, he added. Ashok Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager, Vijayawada Division, SCR presented the vote of thanks.
