Dussehra 2017: Goddess Kanakadurga Devi Temple is a Famous Hindu Temple of Durga Navratri grand festival located in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. In 2017, Durga Navratri will be celebrated from Thursday 21st September to Saturday 30th September with Dasara (Vijayadashami). Navratri is a nine-night festival that ends with Vijayadashami on the 10th day, it is the celebrated as the victory of Goddess Durga over the buffalo Demon Mahishasura. Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam will organize Dussehra Mahotsavam for 10 days from September 21st in the city of Vijayawada at atop of the Indrakeeladri.
This year we all are going to celebrate 10-day Dussehra festival atop Indrakeeladri. With Kalasha Sthapanam Pooja, celebrations will start at the temple. On Padyami, the first day of Navarathri, Goddess Durga is decorated in Sri Swarnakavacha alankrita Durga Devi. On concluding day, Vijaya Dashami, Durga is worshipped in Sri Rajarajeshwari Devi Alankaram.
- On 21st September Day one, the Kanakadurga Temple will be opened at 8 AM in the morning after Snapanam.
- On remaining days, Temple will remain open for Darshanam from 3 AM to 11 PM.
- On Moola Nakshatram day, Temple will remain open for Darshanam from 2 AM to 11 PM.
Dussehra 2017 Festival Durga Amma Vari Alankaras:
Sri Kanaka Durga Devi, the chief deity of the temple is portrayed as blessing the visiting devotees in various avatars during the Navaratri festival. A symbolic representation of all forms of triumph of good over evil, Alankaram of the day is chosen as per the astrological star of each day, in accordance with the lunar calendar. The presiding deity will give darshan in one ‘alankaram’ every day during the festival.

Famous Dussehra Celebrations:
Goddess Durga Amma Vari Temple situated on the Indrakeeladri hill, on the banks of river Krishna, Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh. This holy shrine of Goddess Durga is a Swayambhu (self-manifested) and is the second largest temple in Andhra Pradesh. On this mountain, goddess Durga had been glowing with the lighting of cores of sun, with golden color.
Special pujas are performed during Dasara also called Navaratri. A large number of pilgrims attend the colorful celebrations and take a holy dip in the Krishna River.
The most significant are Saraswati puja and Theppotsavam. On the occasion of Vijaya Dasami the processional idol of Indrakeeladri is at the temple and conducts the Teppotsavam in the evening at Krishna River.
