Alankarams in Durga Devi Temple 2016: Dasara is the most prominent festival, in my view. This year Devi Saran Navaratri Celebrations are special 11 days festival done greatly at Kanaka Durga Temple Vijayawada. After 36 years Durga Devi decorated as Sri Katyayani Devi Alankaram due to changes in Tithi. Katyayani Devi Alankaram After Three and a Half Decades
Usually, the Dasara festival is organized for 9 or 10 days a variation in ‘tithi’ as per the Telugu almanac. After a gap of four years, 10-day Dasara festival was organized last year. After three and a half decades, the Dasara celebrated 11 days, which incidentally was the year when Krishna Pushkarams were organized. After 36 years we were celebrated 11 days festival. It brings Special alankaram, Sri Katyayani Devi. She is regarded as one of the fiercest forms of Shakti. Katyayani is often depicted as a very beautiful but at the same time a fierce looking woman with three eyes.
Blessing Her Devotees
The temple priests said, Katyayani Devi alankaram represent bright future and blessing her devotees with peaceful life. Normally, this is not one of the 10 incarnations seen at the Dasara festival. But, due to changes in tidhi, a scope for extra alankaram has arisen.
She is portrayed to have four hands. In her left hands, she holds a sword and a lotus flower. She makes gestures of providing boons and protection to her devotees with her right hands.
